Facial Recognition

Facial recognition is a growing phenomenon. Now, all you need to do is look at your phone in order to unlock it… Or maybe look into your friends to unlock theirs. Facial recognition could make using your phone more efficient, or is it just a new way of the government accessing your face? Many people have mixed views on the topic but overall, our interviewees all agreed that this technology has only touched the surface of its capabilities. The evolution of technology is unfolding right before our eyes.

I recorded a few friends and asked them their opinions on facial recognition technology. We talked about the basics, and got into personal stories about their mishaps with facial recognition. Their answers all varied, either because they have experience with facial recognition or because they have no experience at all. Each interviewee was asked 9 questions about current, past and future occurrences. While listening, no one ever said it worked 100% of the time even though their faces remain the same.
